| CAVEAT EMPTOR You may have heard this Latin phrase at some point in your life. But most likely you've heard it in English which is: Buyer Beware! I've placed this information on it's very own page because of how I feel about this issue. The Henderson Family Farm is "Certified Organic". We have worked very hard to meet the requirements for organic certification. We spend quite a bit of money satisfying these requirements on a continual basis. Our certification is on file with the market manager and we also have a copy that we keep at our stall. At a Farmers Market, you will hear claims like: Homegrown ... Local ... Organic ... Pesticide free I cannot stress enough the importance of consumer education and awareness when buying produce at the market. The intent of "Farmers Markets" is to support local agriculture. As a consumer, before purchasing produce at the market, please remember that local really means seasonal. My advice to everyone is this: It's your money, ask as many questions as you want. Knowledge is power. |
